BLUE RIBBON AWARD WINNER! The EC Glass Band is recognized by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association and the Virginia Music Educators Association with the BLUE RIBBON AWARD.

The Blue Ribbon Award is the highest honor a music department can earn within the state of Virginia. In order to be recognized with this distinction, all top-eligible-performing groups (Band, Orchestra, and Chorus) must ALL receive a final rating of SUPERIOR at the VMEA District Concert Festival, held in March.

2008-2009 Marching Band Accolades
· 1st place Marching, Colorguard, Percussion and General Effect at the Amherst Tournament of Champions

· BEST BAND in Music, Marching, Effect, Guard, and Percussion at the Bassett HS Drums Along the Blue Ridge. The band also was the highest scoring band of the day.

· State Championship in Group IV-Open at the USSBA Virginia State Championships at Salem City Stadium.

· Highest placing Virginia band at the USSBA Northern States Championships in Allentown, PA. While on the road, the band enjoyed a day in NYC where they toured Manhattan, enjoyed a broadway show, and shopped in Times Square.
