In order to be recognized with this distinction, all top-eligible-performing groups (Band, Orchestra, and Chorus) must ALL receive a final rating of SUPERIOR at the VMEA District Concert Festival, held in March.<br /><strong></strong><br /><strong>2008-2009 Marching Band Accolades</strong><br />· 1st place Marching, Colorguard, Percussion and General Effect at the Amherst Tournament of Champions<br /><br />· BEST BAND in Music, Marching, Effect, Guard, and Percussion at the Bassett HS Drums Along the Blue Ridge. The band also was the highest scoring band of the day.<br /><br />· State Championship in Group IV-Open at the USSBA Virginia State Championships at Salem City Stadium.<br /><br />· Highest placing Virginia band at the USSBA Northern States Championships in Allentown, PA.
